After high school (which actually took until 1989 for me), I moved to St. Paul and graduated from the University of St. Thomas in 1993. I moved to Chicago to attend Loyola University School of Law. If you have ever been to Chicago, Loyola's law school is right behind the water tower on Michigan Avenue. It's a great place. I graduated from Loyola in 1996, and moved back to Otter Tail County to work in the Court for a year. I lived in Perham with my Mom and drove to Fergus Falls every day. It was a big change from Chicago.
In 1997, I moved to Minneapolis to practice law and have been a lawyer in Minneapolis ever since.
In 1998, I married a guy from Minneapolis, Rob Lewis. We have two kids, Evelyn (7 years old) and Joseph (5 years old). The kids love spending time in Perham because they get to do much more in the small town than they do in the city -- freedom. Last year, I started teaching at the University of Minnesota Law School in the law clinic. I supervise law students as they represent their first clients - in divorce, unemployment compensation, child custody, child support, and lots of other cases. It's satisfying work because the clients are low-income people who would not otherwise be able to afford a lawyer. Plus, it is fun working with students.
Future plans: We rented an RV for ten days in July and we were not initially planning on spending the time in Perham, but we are still in the planning stages. If I'm not at the reunion, it's because I'm in an RV in some forest living it up with my family. Other future plans: Golf with my husband, travel more as the kids get older, and spend as much time with friends and family as possible.
