Wow! Where has the time gone? For me life just keeps getting better & better. After graduation, I went to the College of St. Scholastica in Duluth where I graduated in 1991 with a BA in Computer Information Systems & a minor in Business Management. I worked in the IT world for 9 years - mostly in downtown Minneapolis, along with a year telecommuting from our home up to Duluth, and then a 9 month contract in Bloomington before I was put on bed rest with my 1st pregnancy. After our 1st child I never went back, THANK GOODNESS!
I met my soul mate, Scott, at CSS in 1989 & we were married in 1994. I knew the minute I met him that I would be dating him by the end of the year. (I guess my vision wasn’t long term thinking only dating at the time, instead of marriage). Scott is one of those natural salesmen & he still amazes me at how great he is with people. I always tell people that he’s never met a stranger, because everyone is his friend the moment he meets them. I am truly proud of him & what he’s done for our family.
Rachel was born on my birthday in 2000, a great birthday present! She is our one and only girl & just like her daddy, has never met a stranger. She has an extremely generous heart & she stretches me to be more generous too. She loves nature & we’ve had about every bug imaginable as a pet, but she also likes to play with Barbie’s & Polly Pockets (something I never did).
Joel is our sports nut. Anything sports related, Joel’s doing it, but his favorite is hockey. We always say he was born with a hockey stick in his hand which thrills his dad since Scott’s played hockey since he was three and Joel’s following in his footsteps. Joel is mostly like me personality-wise and that totally scares me! If we can only make it through the teenage years! (I’ve already started praying for that!)
Jair follows in his brother’s footsteps to play sports, but more just because Joel does it. He is a typical (or so I hear) third child where he is flexible in what he does. He can be in the thick of the game with all the kids, or he can play quietly by himself, no matter what, he’s content.
Michael is our happy baby. He seems to have the same traits as Scott and Rachel not afraid of anyone. He also loves sports & can play very well by himself too.
We moved to Lakeville (yes, we do have a Rosemount address, but we actually live in Lakeville) a couple years ago & finally feel like we’re home. This is where we want our kids to grow up. It’s so nice to finally feel grounded.
As I’ve read the few bios that have been sent, I see that Scott & Kim home school too! Way to go guys! (By the way, sorry we lost contact over the years!) We have been home schooling since the beginning & loving it! I never dreamed I’d be doing anything like this, but started thinking about it after Joel was born & I noticed how differently he learned from how Rachel learned. It’s truly been a blessing for us and it’s amazing the extra benefits that have come about because of it like the things the kids learn from each other through osmosis (& like Kim - the things I’ve learned also), the desire of the little ones to want to ‘do school’ too, to watch the light bulb light up when they finally get a concept (that’s priceless!), and the friendships they are forming with each other. I hope & pray that we can home school the whole way through.
I’ve enjoyed reading all the bios online & hope more are coming. I’m sorry to say we won’t be making it to the reunion. I hope you all have a great time & if there is a way to get some pictures online (I see another class had some - hint, hint) I’d love to see you all. You are all in my thoughts & prayers & we’ll see you in 10 years!
God bless,
MJ
