20 years - Wow - I don't feel that old.

Where do I begin....A lot has changed in the last 20 years!

I got married in 1985 - almost 19 years now - to a city slicker I met at the Blue Horizon Ballroom!  John  - We lived in the Minneapolis area for 8 years where we had 2 kids,  Jake and Ashley.  In 1994, due to a job change for my husband, we decided to move back to the Perham area.  We now live on a farm near Dent.  We love it.  My husband was a city boy at heart but likes the country life.

Our son Jake is now 15 ( one more month and look out -  gets his driver's license) and Ashley 14 ( going on 20 ) -   I was a stay at home mom until the kids started school and then worked for my Dad at Dent Lakes Granite as the office manager. I've been working at ACS for the last 3 years a Customer Service Project Coordinator.  I love my job and the people I work with.  It is a great company to work for.  ( Brownie points Dave?) No seriously I love it. I also sell Avon on the side.

Our kids keep me busy running for all their activities.  Their social life is way more active than mine!  Jake is a very musical kid and I am usually known by people as " Jake's Mom" because he is the entertainment at a lot of functions.  Ashley takes after John more than me and is involved in volleyball, basketball and track she does the high jump and pole vaulting!!   Too bad she has two short parents!!  My kids are my life and my greatest accomplishment.

In our spare time we enjoy fishing as a family and I love to craft and read trashy novels.   I think is something in my blood if any of you remember my mom.  I spend a great deal of time with them also as they have moved from the lake near Ottertail to the big city of Perham due to my Dad's failing health.  It has been a rough year as we thought we had almost lost him.  We thank God for everyday he is here.

It has been an enjoyable experience planning the class reunion - I have talked to Dean and Paul more in the last month than I ever did in the last 20 years or in high school even.

If you were/are able to attend I hope you enjoy yourselves and looking forward to seeing all of you.

Twenty years is quite awhile, after high school I married in Oct. of 1984 to Rick Loock from Henning, it'll be twenty years we've been married, (wow where has the time gone?) We have three wonderful daughters.
Jamie, our oldest is 18 and attends school at Central Lakes College in Staples. She will graduate next spring in photo imaging, she  wants to live in a big  city and be a photographer. She lives in Wadena in an apartment and works at Carr's in Ottertail.
Samantha, our middle daughter  will be a senior at Henning High School next fall. She is sixteen and plans to become a journalist, she's already pursuing her career by writing for the Henning newspaper. She too works at Carr's and Lucy's cafe as a waitress.
Kelly our youngest is 14 and will be a freshmen next fall at Henning. She plays basketball and should have been our boy we never got because she loves to fish and hunt with her dad and grandpa . She babysits full time for a 4 year old boy (Carson Herr), who is more like of a family member.
All three girls are wonderful but keep Rick and I on our toes with their good looks (which come from their dad's side of the family), attracting too many boys to our liking.
I worked at the Henning Health Care Center for 7 years, then moved to the  Elders home in New York Mills for 4 yrs. My sister talked me into switching over to IFS (industrial finishing services) in Deer Creek. I have worked there for over five years as their quality control inspector on the day shift.
My husband Rick owns his own Plumbing Business that he runs from our home.
We live right outside of Henning on a 60 acre hobby  farm we bought almost 11 years ago. We have 8 horses that we ride at friends places, state parks and forests and around the countryside. One of our favorite family outings is camping with or without the horses.
We also enjoy hunting and gardening, the girls help with the garden and love to dig in the dirt, (that's kids for you!) I'm also on a bowling league in New York Mills, we ice fish all winter long and raise and train horses.
We have three dogs, two labs and a collie mix. We also have an assortment of chickens, and other pets, that the girls insist upon having.
Happy Trails,
Karen A. (Loerzel) Loock
