I can't believe it has been 20 years!!! WOW!! Let's see, where do I start?? After high school, I went to school for Legal Secretary and Computers. I served my intern in Minneapolis working for a law firm downtown for 7 years. It was fast paced and I absolutely loved it!!! I dated a lot looking for "Mr. Right" (Jeff and Leanne can attest to that)! Then one weekend I went white water rafting with a group of friends. There was another group that came with us, totally about 30 people. Anyway, I saw this person that I just had to meet; however, I didn't know what to say or how to start a conversation -- whoever thought I would have a loss for words?? So, I did what anyone in my shoes would have done - I flirted with him by splashing him a few times while we were rafting, got pretty drenched in the process - but who knew that would have worked!!! We started dating, I moved in with him, and within 11 months of knowing one another, we were married. As you can tell, we didn't believe in long engagements!!! We had a not-so-typical wedding, as we got married in a chapel overlooking the mountains on the outskirts of Yellowstone National Park. It was AWESOME!! Jeff and I have been happily married for 14 years and have been blessed with two wonderful children (Megan 12 1/2 and Austin 9 1/2).
In August of 1991, Megan was born. She is a splitting image of me!! She has been on a traveling volleyball team for two years, Jr. High Varsity team, and has played on a rec team since second grade. She also has been an avid softball player since 1st grade. Girl scouts is another activity that consumes our time. I have been a co-leader for her troop since she was in Kindergarten. Her troop is very active and has done a lot of camping and has gone many places.
In October of 1994, Austin was born. He is 110% BOY!! He is our little daredevil. He has a high tolerance for pain, therefore, is not afraid to try anything! With him, we usually travel with a first aid kit, a splint, butterfly bandages and gauze (as regular band-aids are usually too small). Austin is a people person who loves to make people laugh. He loves to volunteer for things, is a hard worker, and loves to help both Jeff and I out whenever asked (well, most of the time). He also enjoys sports - baseball, soccer, basketball, and football to name a few. Jeff has been pretty active in Austin's sports, as he is usually the coach or the assistant coach for the team(s). Cub Scouts has also played a big part of their activities. Jeff has not only been the Den Leader for the last three years, but also the Pack Cubmaster. Somehow I became the Pack's Treasurer a couple of years ago, which I'm still trying to figure out how that happened! As you can tell, both Jeff and I love being a big part of our kids' lives.
It gives us great joy and pleasure to see them grow and mature into young adults.
As for Jeff and I, we both work full time - Jeff is a Shipping and Receiving Manager for a printing company in Shoreview. He has been with the company for 18 years. For the past five years, I've worked in Blaine for Aveda Corporation as a Chemical Buyer. I love my job, as my days are never dull. There is always something going on, and at times, I find myself flying by the seat of my pants, but that's all part of my typical day.
For the last three summers, we have been fortunate to be able to enjoy our trailer at a resort on the Southeast side of Mille Lacs. We do as much or as little as we want. Four-wheeling, swimming, boating, tubing, fishing, hang out with friends and family, and drink a few beers by the campfire are a few things we like to do when we're up at the lake. In our spare time, (during the week) you can find us chauffeuring the kids, going to ball practices or games, working on a remodeling project (which is usually never-ending) working in our perennial gardens, or when time allows, computer scrap booking.
Well, that about sums up the last 20 years. As you can tell, I really don't get a loss for words!! I plan on going to the festivities on Friday and Saturday night. I'm really looking forward to our reunion, as it will give us all a chance to see where everyone has been and what everyone has been doing. Great bios so far - I love reading them!!!
